Videos / HDR UK Applied Analytics Webinar: Retina, genes and disease risk: recent work in VAMPIRE - Manuel Trucco (59:34)

This talk gives an overview of our interdisciplinary research on the role that the retinal vasculature can play in the prediction of systemic diseases, including correlations between established phenotypic and genotypic cardiovascular risk scores and retina-predicted risk. The focus will be on the requirements and challenges for computational tools for image and data analysis, following the trajectory and experience of the VAMPIRE group (Dundee and Edinburgh) and its collaboration with clinical researchers, practitioners and industry. Example of key elements are the different paradigms for data/image mining (dictionary-based vs. end-to-end) and the reliability of measurements and decisions. (Manuel Trucco) 17/06/2021
