Videos / Elevate ECR Series: John Tazare on Open Science and Code Sharing (46:42)
Series Description
The Elevate seminar series is co-led by Fatemeh Torabi and Elliot McClenaghan.
The Elevate seminar series, co-led by Fatemeh Torabi and Elliot McClenaghan and co-designed with early career researchers (ECRs), helps researchers develop the skills, insights and connections they need to thrive as independent researchers. Through a series of free events, Elevate explores what drives successful health data research collaborations- from building effective relationships and developing leadership skills to navigating career transitions and broadening professional networks.
Session Description
In this Elevate seminar, we speak to John Tazare of LSHTM, a committed advocate for equitable, transparent and impactful science. John shares his experience of making open code, open methods and open data the norm rather than the exception, and explores how open science can benefit researchers, patients, policymakers and the public.
Drawing on real-world examples, John discusses practical approaches to developing transparent research workflows and engaging citizens in health data research. He also explores some of the challenges researchers face, including privacy, consent and reproducibility.
