At this showcase, Catalyst lead and BHF Data Science Centre Associate Director, Professor Ewan Pearson, gave an overview of the aims and plans for the project, including details of our upcoming funding call for driver projects. Senior Health Data Scientist John Nolan then did a dive into data resources and access for diabetes research. Dr Cameron Razieh, Epidemiologist and Statistician from the Diabetes Research Centre at the University of Leicester will also discuss a recent BHF Data Science Centre-enabled project entitled, ‘What is the influence of multi-morbidity on risk of poorer outcomes in people with CVD and COVID-19?'. The showcase was chaired by BHF DSC Project Manager, Sarah Lessels. The Diabetes Data Science Catalyst was launched by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Data Science Centre in partnership with Diabetes UK, HDR UK and the BHF. Its aim is to accelerate understanding of the links between cardiovascular disease and diabetes by harnessing the power of linked data.
