The BHF Data Science Centre is a partnership between Health Data Research UK and the British Heart Foundation that works to deliver the data and data science needed to address some of the most important challenges in heart and circulatory disease research. The Centre works with a wide range of partners including patients, public, clinicians, researchers and NHS organisations to help them carry out research using health data into the causes, prevention and treatment of all diseases of the heart and circulation (such as heart attacks, stroke and vascular dementia).
The BHF Data Science Centre holds a monthly webinar to provide updates about our work. For our March webinar we were joined by Dr Tim Wilkinson, a Clinical Research Fellow in Neurology at the University of Toronto, Canada, and an honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, UK. His research interests surround the use of routine health data to study the causes and consequences of dementia, using a combination of novel health data science techniques and traditional epidemiological methods. Tim will discuss antipsychotic prescribing and mortality in people with dementia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
