In 2023, the BHF Data Science Centre launched a call for funding to support studies on cardiovascular disease and/or diabetes and COVID-19, in collaboration with Diabetes UK and the BHF. We are pleased to say that many of the projects awarded funding have started in earnest, with some forming the first major steps of our Diabetes Data Science Catalyst. This month we were joined Dr Anvesha Singh, Associate Professor in Cardiology at the University of Leicester, and Dr Stephen Kaptoge, Principal Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, who told us more about two of the projects. Dr Stephen Kaptoge: the impact of COVID-19 on the association between Type 2 diabetes and incidence of cardiovascular diseases, with a focus on associations by age at diagnosis of diabetes. Dr Anvesha Singh: understanding the sociodemographic trends in treatment of aortic stenosis, and the impact of COVID-19. The webinar was chaired by Sarah Lessels, Research Project Manager.
