Gordon Elder is an Associate Director of Nursing and one of the Chief Nursing Information Officers leading on digital innovation at the Newcastle Hospitals. He is also Regional Chief Nursing Information Officer for NHS England in the North East & Yorkshire. This position allows Gordon to share his experience of the transformation of this complex and highly specialised organisation into one of most successful and mature Global Digital Exemplar NHS Trusts in England, as they oversaw the exchange of the paper records with a high-quality digital solution through the ‘Paperlite’ programme. Gordon is passionate about transformational change that improves clinical practice, which in turn enhances patient safety and patient experience. He believes that the delivery of effective and efficient IT services is integral to achieving those ambitions.
The Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) Digital Health Hub aims to enhance health and wellbeing across the North East and North Cumbria region of the UK. The hub facilitates responsible research and innovation in healthcare technologies (health-tech), supported by inclusive digital skills sharing, training, and making connections.
